The course includes information on Alarm Methods, Actions on Alarms, Parts of a Fire Extinguisher, Using the Extinguisher, Fire Class and Extinguisher Types and much more. Within the course are interactive learning activities, streamed video examples, onscreen content, tips and an integrated assessment module.

Customise your own Fire Safety Courses on the Powerhouse LMS 

As the course administrator you can simply add users or link the database to your employee system and course participants are automatically added. The course is delivered on the Powerhouse self authoring platform which allows you to simply add new pages, remove content or upload your own corporate documents.

The current assessment module consists of profiling questions on the content. The participant manages their own learning pathway and when they are satisfied they upload their assessment results to the database which allows your HR department to review competency rankings. This process can be automated with system generated emails and certificates to ease your administration processes.

As course administrator you can simply edit the existing questions, delete questions or add your own questions to assist with meeting compliancy levels with your staff. Course pass levels are easily changed and automated to give you course flexibility.

Standards and Compliance

Mediasphere’s Emergency Management Course assists in meeting compliancy with the Australian Standard AS 3745-2002 Emergency Control Organisation and Building Fire Regulations, with regards to instruction in the use of hand held fire devices.

The online training course also assists with meeting compliancy with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practices.

Fire Safety and Emergency Management Course Outline

There are seven sections to cover in the course:

1. Introduction and Understanding 
2. The Emergency Control Organisation
3. Alarm Methods
4. Actions on Alarms
5. Fire Classes and Fire Extinguishers
6. Fire Extinguisher Parts
7. Using the Extinguisher

The course features onscreen text, interactive activities (formative assessment), instructional videos, audio files of the different alarm types, photographs of the different fire extinguishers and inbuilt assessment based on the content.

To complete the course, your staff will need to log on and:

Work through the topics

1. View and complete the interactive activities
2. View the instructional videos
3. Listen to the evacuation tones
4. Read the instructional text
5. Complete assessments
6. Review the assessment score
7. Submit the assessment score

After your staff have completed the course, they are assessed automatically and you review the competency levels of your staff via the built-in online reports.
