Mediasphere has developed a fine reputation as one of Australia’s leading animation studios.

Animation has been a core feature of many of Mediasphere’s e-Learning programs for our clients. Mediasphere has extensive experience in planning, designing and implementing animated sequences and activities for government, business and education. Our recent projects include:

Government animation projects

• 2009: Development of the interactive international student orientation program, BroadLEARN Study Abroad, for the Queensland Government. This program received a national education award in 2009.
• 2008/9: Development of the online interactive training course for the Mental Health Review Tribunal. The course is delivered on Mediasphere’s learning platform, the Powerhouse LMS.

Education animation projects

• 2009/10: Development of the animated e-Assessment objects for Flinders University, as part of the South Australian Government’s school assessment project. The objects are delivered on a standalone database programmed on USB keys to enable all feedback to be recorded and collated centrally.
• 2007/8: Development of BroadLEARN IELTS for the University of Queensland (ICTE) which delivers over 120 hours of animated learning sequences online to 10 countries. Visit www.ieltscentral.com for more information.

Business animation projects

• 2009: Development of animated sequences and assessment items for a range of Registered Training Organisations.
• 2008: Development of interactive courseware for Certificate I to IV and the Advanced Diploma in Childcare for the National Institute of Early Childhood Education.

Mediasphere’s Animation Philosophy  

Animated learning and assessment objects in an online course allow the user to interact with the content to optimise their learning.

The user is typically guided through a series of screens that provide a basis for the instruction. They are then immersed in a self-paced environment to construct meaning from that content through consolidation and self-assessment.

This part of the learning object may be repeated as often as is required by the learner until they feel confident enough to complete the summative assessment tasks to validate and record their knowledge in the database. (Learn more about Mediasphere’s assessment services)

Mediasphere’s well constructed learning objects break down the content into useable chunks that highlight the key aspects of the information.  This kind of directed learning ensures the instruction is clear and well defined and maps directly to the learning outcomes in the course.

Mediasphere recommend that the learning objects present animation, video and audio to engage the user through key topics and thus cater for a range of learning styles. Our online courses usually feature two types of learning objects; directed and constructivist.

• Directed learning objects provide the user with information on a topic area through a series of pages, that feature multimedia assets which have been designed to modularise the learning. The user has the option to replay these animated assets to consolidate their understanding. The objects are self-paced with the student deciding when to progress to the next aligned concept.

• Constructivist learning objects allow the user to engage with the information at a higher level so they are then able to make judgments and choices depending on their understanding of the data presented. For instance a user may be presented with a case study and be able to respond in a variety of ways. The learning object would then provide immediate feedback to help consolidate the learning or provide learning prompts to assist the user to build their knowledge in key concept.
